Slimefoot’s Slow Cruise: Saproling Shuffle Play

Slimefoot, the Stowaway
B1Exhibition(0/10)

Welcome to Sporeland: The Deck So Casual It Might Sporulate

If you thought Slimefoot, the Stowaway was the glue that held together a powerhouse Golgari aristocrats engine, this deck is here to prove you...only half right. Welcome to a deck where Saprolings outnumber actual threats, and victory is less about explosive combos and more about watching your opponents slowly realize you aren't packing any combos at all.

The Commander: Slimefoot, the Stowaway

Slimefoot himself is one of the most beloved fungi in Magic’s history. For 1BG, you get a 2/3 legendary with a built-in life drain and token generation. Whenever a Saproling dies—yours, not your opponent’s unfortunately—every opponent takes 1 damage and you gain 1 life. You can also pay four mana to create a 1/1 green Saproling. Four mana. For a single 1/1. We hope you brought snacks.

Game Plan: Slow and Spore-y Wins the Race?

The core concept here is simple: Make Saprolings, maybe let them die, occasionally ping your foes. The deck is loaded with the classic fungus-friendlies: Sporecrown Thallid gives your tokens a little pep talk (+1/+1), while Fungal Plots is here to turn Saprolings into cards—because if you can’t win fast, you might as well draw.

Of course, you’ll find the usual suspects like Sprout Swarm (suspend your disbelief, not your tokens) and Saproling Migration for those moments when you want to look like you’re doing something relevant. But don’t worry: just as you get ready to assemble an engine, you’ll realize the deck’s idea of acceleration is Rampant Growth—and it stops there. No Doubling Season. No Parallel Lives. Not even Ashnod’s Altar for a sneaky infinite. If you were hoping for a streamlined sacrifice train, this is the scenic route.

The sac outlets are so sparse that you’ll spend more time reading the flavor text on Slimefoot than draining life. When your best win condition is “maybe I’ll swing with a swarm of 1/1s,” you know you’re in for a long, leisurely game. Don’t forget Deathbloom Thallid and Spore Swarm, because nothing says inevitability like three 1/1s…some turn after six.

Power & Bracket: 0/10 and Proud

Why the 0/10? Let’s be honest: this deck couldn’t race a turtle with a flat tire. With no board wipes, few removal spells, and a game plan slower than molasses in January, it’s settled snugly into Bracket 1. There’s no Craterhoof Behemoth finish, no Blood Artist infinite grind, and not even a surprise Overrun for a sneaky win. It’s just honest, home-grown saproling value and pure, undiluted jank.

Game changers? If you spot Dictate of Erebos or Attrition in here, you’re hallucinating—this deck prefers to let its little friends go gently into that good night, one by one, for a single point of drain.

Should You Build It?

If you’re looking for a deck that won’t scare the table and is more about friendly fungus than cut-throat combos, this is your next project. It’s the perfect recipe for that friend group where power levels are measured in how many turns it takes to cast your commander—not how many turns it takes to win. You won’t crush the meta, but you just might cultivate some respect for the humble saproling (and maybe get in a solid chuckle when you’re forced to attack for lethal…in turn fourteen).
